County Legislator James Nolan Announces $3M for Bronxville Flood Mitigation, $11M Bridge Replacement and Support for Local Services

County Legislator James Nolan updated the Village of Bronxville on several county-funded projects and local grants during the trustees' March 9 meeting. He said the county obtained $3,000,000 for a Bronxville flood-mitigation project and more than $11,000,000 for replacement of the Pomfret Road West bridge, which will move into design and is expected to take about two years.
"We're able to get funding for for Bronxville with $3,000,000," County Legislator James Nolan said, noting the flood work and a pump-station project along the Bronx River Parkway intended to keep that corridor open during high-water events. Nolan also told trustees he secured roughly $10,000–$10,200 for EVAC emergency services in Bronxville and smaller grants including $3,600 for National Night Out and $4,000 for the Bronxville Women's Club.
Nolan described the bridge as originally built in 1911 and said the state Department of Transportation required replacement. He said the bridge grant will fund design work and that the county will continue to press for state funding for ambulance services countywide. Nolan added that the county is working on a pump station near the Bronx River Parkway to speed floodwater removal and reduce closures of that roadway.
Trustees thanked Nolan for the funding and his responsiveness to village requests, and the mayor noted the significance of the capital allocation being the first of its kind for local flood mitigation in recent memory.
