The board denied a permanent liquor-license application for O'Leary’s Tavern after members reviewed evidence of repeated sales to minors and police reports indicating ongoing public‑safety concerns at the location. Commissioners cited a history that included 29 sales to minors in 2019 (with a $30,000 fine paid) and a further 13 sales to minors in 2024; investigators and the chair described observed underage patrons and multiple complaints.
"Because of the numerous sales to minors at this location, 29 sales to minors, a $30,000 fine paid in 2019, and, again, numerous sales to minors, 13 sales to minors, in 2024… I cannot approve this application," Commissioner De Leon stated when recording his denial vote. The full board concurred, and the applicant’s temporary permit was effectively canceled at that hearing.
The board directed licensing staff to place a name/location stop on future applications for the premises until outstanding safety and compliance issues are resolved, and the denial was entered into the minutes as effective immediately.
