Suzanne Steele, speaking for the Solid Waste Committee, presented the committee's recommended job description for transfer station attendants and urged that customer service and public education be front and center. "The committee felt this was an important thing for us to focus on so that employees have a clear understanding on how the town wants the transfer station to operate," Steele said, and she emphasized that visible staff interaction can reduce contamination and save the town money.
Steele also recommended that collection and record‑keeping of fees be explicitly included in the position description and offered to arrange visits to Candia’s well‑run transfer station for board members. Staff said she had incorporated many committee suggestions into the draft in the board packet and will provide a tracked‑changes version for members to review before the next meeting.
