The Deerfield Board of Selectmen voted to award a bid for a replacement rescue unit to Autotronics after a presentation by Fire Chief Fisher. Chief Fisher said Autotronics’ Braun unit was offered at $450,850 and the alternate bid from PL Customs was $480,683. “Their price was $450,850,” Chief Fisher said, and he told the board Autotronics expects delivery in January 2027.
Chief Fisher said the Granite State Clean Fleets (Volkswagen) grant is written around the $450,000 mark and reimburses the majority of the cost; the grant covers about 80% and the state’s maximum reimbursement leaves the town responsible for about $91,938, which Chief Fisher said would come from the fire equipment and apparatus capital reserve. He added that towns typically expend the full invoice and then receive state reimbursement.
Board members questioned the lead times and whether the higher PL Customs price included optional parts; Chief Fisher noted PL Customs had a 20–24 month lead time that would not meet the grant close‑out deadline. A board member moved to award the bid to Autotronics and to authorize purchase, and the board approved the motion. Staff said the town will expend funds from the capital reserve and record a receivable for the state reimbursement.
