County outlines 'Veil Rise' reentry training to certify jail participants as forklift operators

"The grant comes through 2 or 3 different departments... roughly, it's about $3,600 per person that they're getting certified in," one presenter said, noting that employers in the region need forklift operators and that certified participants can be "day‑1 ready." The initiative is grant‑funded and aims to be incorporated into drug-court and reentry dockets so participants have work-ready skills upon release.
Officials emphasized that the certifications are proctored through KCTCS and Bluegrass Workforce partners and that adult-education follow-up will support participants who remain incarcerated beyond initial completion dates.
