Homeless coordinator reports 127 intakes, housing progress and a 60‑day plan

Bryce Gibson, the county's homeless coordinator, updated the Fiscal Court on Aug. 10, saying the coalition has completed 127 intakes and is seeing a modest influx of people traveling through the county.
"We've got a 127 intakes done as of today," Gibson said, and added that about 38% of those have been in the county for less than a year while roughly 62% have been residents for at least two years. Gibson said his team recently housed about 20 people and highlighted barriers to housing including upfront move-in costs, bad credit and employment instability. He said a family recently needed about $3,600 to secure housing after getting their children back.
Gibson described ongoing fundraising and operations: an Amazon wish list and PayPal account, a rented storage space for emergency kits and a pending housing initiative that he said is about 60 days from placing its first participants. He urged residents to donate and pointed to the coalition website and wish list for items.
