The Chazy Union Free School District Board of Education on April 14 approved a tax levy of $6,087,820 and adopted resolutions placing a proposed $15,587,000 district budget and a separate $39,000 library levy before voters at the May 19, 2026 annual budget vote.
The board approved the tax levy on a motion by Lee Barcomb, seconded by Jason Bruce. The board then adopted Resolution No. 1 to present the budget proposition to voters and Resolution No. 2 to place a $39,000 tax levy proposition supporting the Chazy Public Library on the ballot. The motions were recorded as carried unanimously.
The text of the budget proposition, as presented to the board, reads: "Shall the Board of Education of the Chazy Union Free School District be authorized to expend a sum not to exceed $15,587,000.00 for the 2026-2027 school year, and to levy the necessary tax thereof?" The board also authorized the district clerk to advertise the full text of the propositions in the District’s Notice of Annual Meeting.
The board announced that the Annual Meeting, Budget Vote & School Board Election will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; a board meeting and spring concert are scheduled to follow later that evening.
