Lake Travis ISD board waives privilege to disclose forensic-audit findings

At a special called meeting on March 11, 2025, the Lake Travis Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to waive attorney-client privilege so the board could present and disclose two forensic audit reports delivered June 28, 2024, and February 7, 2025.

Trustee Keely Cano made the motion and Trustee Phillip Davis seconded. The board’s minutes record that "the motion passed by a vote of 6 - 0." The motion directed the district’s legal counsel to ensure that any information protected by law or not covered by the waiver remain protected or be appropriately redacted before public release.

Later in the meeting, after a closed session recess, the board voted on a related motion to waive privilege in its entirety and to authorize full publication of the reports on the district website and electronic distribution to students, parents and staff; the minutes record "The motion passed/failed by a vote of 6 - 0." The meeting record uses that phrasing verbatim; it also directs counsel to redact any information shielded by other laws (for example, employee-confidential material) as needed.

Board President Erin Archer presided over the meeting; Trustee Rob Aird was recorded absent. The board did not announce at the meeting any additional disciplinary actions tied to the audit findings. Legal counsel and district staff will carry out the redaction and publication process in accordance with applicable confidentiality requirements.
