Lake Dallas ISD honors students for debate, art, choir, track and soccer successes

Lake Dallas ISD trustees opened their April 21 meeting by recognizing a slate of student achievements across academics, arts and athletics.
Steven Bell, an LDHS teacher, highlighted the Speech & Debate teams, noting cross-examination champions Aaron Franklin and Lana Lavina and that Ruby Jackson and Isabella Rivero Vega advanced to the State Quarterfinals as one of the top eight 4A teams. Jeanette Murray, LDHS art teacher, said all 45 LDHS VASE entries were regional medalists and identified three students advancing to state: Amelia Banyaga, Alana Blake and Joanna Im. Choir directors Kristina Reed (LDMS) and Laura Jenkins (LDHS) reported that both choirs earned UIL sweepstakes.
Coaches Nathan Davis and Brandon Martin recognized the LDHS boys and girls soccer teams; the girls finished as Bi-District champions and the boys as Regional Final runner-up, and both advance to the playoffs. Track coaches Brittany Roberson and Ky Edwards listed regional qualifiers and noted school records: Jayshon Hardimon set a 200-meter school record at 21.96 seconds, the boys 4x200 relay recorded 1:27.12, and Haylie Jones set a 300m hurdles record at 45.42.
The recognitions were presented without formal action and serve as routine acknowledgments of student success. The Board did not take any votes related to these recognitions during the meeting.
