He highlighted Stern's climate research into extreme rainfall tied to Tropical Storm Ophelia (September 2023), noting Stern spent nearly two years learning advanced modeling and running simulations with the Weather Research and Forecasting model.
"Please, join me in congratulating Darren Chen & Cole Stern on their impressive achievement and for bringing pride and honor to the Town of Hempstead," Ferretti said, and the Board gave the students a round of applause.
