Town Board adopts multiple parking and bus-stop restrictions across communities

The Town Board of the Town of Hempstead on March 10 adopted several local laws revising parking and bus-stop rules across multiple communities. The measures included Local Law No. 24-2026 (regulations and restrictions in Baldwin, Wantagh and Woodmere), Local Law No. 25-2026 (parking or standing prohibitions in Levittown, Merrick, South Hempstead, Uniondale and Wantagh) and Local Law No. 26-2026 (bus-stop changes in Levittown). Each was approved on a roll-call vote after the public hearings closed with no members of the public speaking.
Board members recorded unanimous votes on the items. The minutes note formal motions such as "On motion of Councilmember Ryder, seconded by Deputy Supervisor Goosby, and unanimously voted upon roll call that the public hearing be closed, and Local Law No. 24-2026 ADOPTED, pursuant to Resolution No. 252-2026." The measures amend Chapter 202 and Section 202-1/202-52 of the Town Code as listed in the agenda. Notices for additional related hearings were scheduled for March 24 for other traffic and parking items.
