Trustees opened the meeting's recognitions with a performance by first-grade students from Lomax Elementary, led by music teacher Shelby Zeka. The board honored La Porte High School Valedictorian Liz Olivera and Salutatorian Moaz Chatta for academic distinction and leadership among the Class of 2025.
The Board also recognized the Lady Dawgs basketball program for securing district, bi-district and area championships and advancing to the regional semifinals; Head Coach Elisha Thompson was named Coach of the Year. In addition, business mentors who supported the March 1 Young Entrepreneur Expo—a partnership between the La Porte-Bayshore Chamber of Commerce and La Porte ISD—were acknowledged for their volunteer support of student entrepreneurship.
