La Porte ISD approves consent agenda, staffing and purchases; introduces new campus administrators

At its April 8 meeting the La Porte ISD Board of Trustees approved a consent agenda that included the March 11 meeting minutes; principals’ reports for district campuses; February 2025 financial reports; human resources actions; a budget amendment; and purchases including installation of a TrueGrid system at Bulldog Stadium and painting services at Viola DeWalt High School.
Trustee Dee Anne Thomson moved to approve the Consent Agenda, seconded by Mason Peres; the motion passed 6–0. Separately, Trustee Jeff Martin moved, seconded by Dee Anne Thomson, to approve an amended list of term, probationary and non-certified contract recommendations for certified teachers, administrators and professionals in pay grades 1–5; that motion also passed 6–0.
Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson introduced new administrators slated to begin in 2025–2026: Joseph Chandler (principal, The Academy of Viola DeWalt High School); Ms. Candice Thibodeaux (associate principal, La Porte High School); Ms. Brooke Watson (assistant principal, La Porte High School); and Ms. Casey Dixon (assistant principal, James H. Baker 6th Grade Campus). The consent agenda also included adoption of TASB Local Policy Update 124 affecting multiple local policies.
