District staff informed the Board the school meal prices would be recommended to increase $0.10 for both breakfast and lunch for the 2025–26 school year. The presentation noted that food costs continue to rise and that prior to recent increases the district had not adjusted breakfast prices in six years or lunch prices in four.
Pam Sanchez reported that "we know that the USDA paid lunch equity meal price is $3.84, and the district's current average lunch meal price is $3.56. Therefore, it is recommended that the district increase both breakfast and lunch meal prices for the 2025-2026 school year by $0.10 each." The Board was informed that formal action on the pricing would be requested at the May 21, 2025 meeting.
