Board reviews interim assessment tools and previews 2025‑26 instructional materials certification

Amanda Prehn, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, summarized certification requirements and told the board that each year the superintendent and the board president and secretary must certify that the district's Instructional Materials Allotment is used only for expenses allowed by the Texas Education Code and that materials collectively cover required curriculum elements; she referenced TEC sections and compliance duties that will trigger a formal certification at the April 16 meeting.
No action was requested on the assessments or the IMA certification at this meeting; staff indicated they will return with the formal CE(LOCAL) certification request and documentation on April 16, 2025. The minutes include the statutory citations the district will rely on for certification (TEC §31.0211; TEC §28.002; TEC §31.101), and list the IMA compliance items staff will provide to the State Board of Education upon request.
