Emery said the candidates forum was recorded by Town Meeting TV and that when she asked whether the tape could be edited, the station declined to edit the recording. She said she then engaged the station's executive director, Megan O'Rourke, who forwarded the matter to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
Emery said the ADL has been "very very critical of hate speech," particularly after the rise of online disruptions during COVID, and she warned that recorded incidents can be replayed and amplified across platforms such as YouTube, Front Porch Forum and social media.
