La Villa ISD board approves two counselor hires after brief executive session

The La Villa Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved two counselor hires at a special meeting Aug. 6, 2025, after a brief executive session, Superintendent Robert Muñoz said.
"Mr. Muñoz recommended to the board to approve Leilah Garza for the Early College High School Counselor position for the 2025-2026 school year as discussed in executive session," the superintendent told trustees during the open meeting. Later he made a parallel recommendation for the SSI Counselor position: "Mr. Muñoz recommended to the board to approve Rosa Giselle Castilleja for the SSI Counselor position for the 2025-2026 school year as discussed in executive session."
Trustee Marianna Reyna moved to approve Garza and Trustee Sonia M. Lopez seconded; Trustee Eduardo Garcia Jr. moved approval of Castilleja and Reyna seconded. President David Alaniz called for votes, and "All voted in favor, motion carried" for both hires. The board attended a closed session beginning at 6:32 p.m., reconvened in open session at 6:36 p.m., and adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
The hires are for the 2025–2026 school year. No other personnel actions were taken in open session.
