Leander ISD to seek TEA waivers for campuses affected by Oct. 21 gas‑leak closures

Leander ISD staff asked the Board to approve the submission of low-attendance waivers to the Texas Education Agency for campuses affected by October 21 road closures tied to a reported gas leak.
CFO Pete Pape’s agenda write-up lists campuses for which staff seek waivers for missed instructional days or low attendance: Grandview Hills Elementary, Laura W. Bush Elementary, River Place Elementary, River Ridge Elementary, Steiner Ranch Elementary, Canyon Ridge Middle School, Four Points Middle School and Vandegrift High School. The packet explains TEA allows districts to request waivers to remove days with attendance at least 10 percentage points below the prior year’s average daily attendance from ADA calculations; the stated deadline to submit waiver applications for 2024–25 is July 31, 2025.
Administration recommended the Board approve submission of the waivers so district revenue calculations are not adversely affected if TEA grants the requests.
