EDC proposes $200,000 transfer to city after staff departures

The Dickinson Economic Development Corporation presented a largely unchanged budget that reflects a significant personnel savings following recent staff departures. Interim city manager Chase Carey said the EDC is projecting $1,650,000 in sales tax revenue and that by removing salary and benefit packages tied to two positions the EDC realized roughly $300,000 in savings. "That was Caitlin McMillan and Dave Funk — salary, benefits, total package," Carey said.
Carey said the board is proposing to transfer $200,000 of the EDC surplus to the general fund, but noted the transfer is subject to board and council direction. Staff also identified a $300,000 demolition line (Gum Bayou, Ohio Street, Harbor Playhouse) and asked council whether surplus should be reallocated to specific projects. Councilmembers asked for a breakdown of administrative charges and professional services before deciding whether to approve transfers.
