Mount Vernon adopts EMS transport plan naming Winthrop Ambulance as primary provider

The Mount Vernon selectboard adopted a municipal emergency medical services transport plan that designates Winthrop Ambulance Service as the town’s primary provider, Chair said during the meeting. The resolution cites state law (30-A M.R.S. § 3172) requiring municipalities to adopt a transport plan and will be posted at the town office and on the town website.

"The primary provider transporting emergency medical services within the borders of the town of Mount Vernon shall be primarily provided by Winthrop ambulance service," the Chair read as the board confirmed the resolution. The document states the service model is a formal contract (model B) and that any amended plan will be submitted to Maine EMS within 30 days of adoption. Board members said the resolution will be signed and publicly posted as required.

Board members later discussed the contract cost components for dispatch and transport when the Winthrop agreement was raised elsewhere on the agenda. Chair said the town’s dispatch-only amount for Winthrop is $16,530 and that the town will verify combined totals and line items before signing the contract. The board did not record a separate roll-call vote on the contract language in the transcript beyond the adoption language and agreed to post the resolution and complete required filings.
