The Levelland ISD Board of Trustees convened May 14 to certify the results of the May 3, 2025 trustee election and to administer oaths to newly elected trustees.
CFO Teresa Montemayor presented the required canvass information, citing state law on the local canvass window. As Montemayor stated in the meeting, “Section 67.003 of the Texas Election Code requires that each local canvassing authority convene to conduct the local canvass not earlier than the third day or later than the eleventh day after Election Day.” Trustee Matt Buxkemper moved to certify the trustee elections; the motion was seconded and passed unopposed.
Crystal Hill, Secretary to the Superintendent and a notary public, administered the Oath of Office to Mike Stafford (District 3), Joyce Johnson (District 1) and Gary Bridges (At-Large). Following the oath, Assistant Superintendent Rodney Caddell opened nominations for board officers. Secretary Treva Potter nominated Carrie Ellis to remain board president; the motion passed unopposed. Matt Buxkemper nominated Mike Stafford for vice president and Joyce Johnson nominated Treva Potter for secretary; both motions carried without opposition.
The board completed the formal steps required to seat newly elected trustees and confirm leadership ahead of the district's summer calendar and budget work.
