Leander ISD administration asked the Board of Trustees to approve a Naming Committee Charter for the district's Science Materials Center, which the agenda says is set to open in August 2025 near Lakeline Blvd. and New Hope in northwest Cedar Park. "Administration recommends the Board approve the Science Materials Center Naming Charter as presented," the agenda states; Crestina Hardie, Chief Communications Officer, is listed as the administrator responsible for the item (SEG 009–011).
The charter would form a committee of five to 10 stakeholders including parents, teachers, administrators, students and community members; it limits consideration to community nominations submitted through a district online process between Jan. 10 and Feb. 3, 2025. The committee may recommend one name per category defined in policy CW (Local) and will provide a report and recommendation to the Board by the March 13, 2025 meeting (SEG 010–027).
