Franklin County approves revenue-neutral 2027 budget, preserves staff raises

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 5 to adopt the county’s 2027 budget, keeping the projected mill levy at 42.803 and preserving planned raises for all staff.
Derek Brown, county administrator, presented the proposal, saying, "The budget presented is a revenue neutral budget to the 2026 budget. The budget was published at 42.803 with a revenue neutral rate of 42.804. The budget presented still allows for raises for all staff members." Commissioner Ianne Dickinson moved to approve the budget as presented; Commissioner Colton Waymire seconded, and all commissioners voted yes.
The action followed a brief public hearing that drew no speakers. The board then adjourned at 6:10 p.m. The approved budget retains the county’s levy near the published figure and, per Brown’s presentation, maintains planned personnel pay increases without raising the mill rate.
