County approves $28,000 to add 86 acres to Lindsay Parsons biodiversity preserve

Tompkins County lawmakers approved an appropriation of $28,000 to the Finger Lakes Land Trust to protect approximately 86 acres in the town of Danby that would add to the Lindsay Parsons Biodiversity Preserve.
Planning staff described the parcel as located in the county's forest lands natural feature focus area, containing national wetland inventory and water-resource council wetland features, and helping connect Danby State Forest with the biodiversity preserve. "This is the Finger Lakes Land Trust requesting $28,000, for the protection of approximately 86 acres," staff said. Committee members asked about trail plans (none planned) and ongoing stewardship needs; staff noted that acquisition requests are typically matched and that stewardship endowments are estimated separately.
The appropriation (ID 14190) followed a procedural negative-declaration vote and was approved unanimously.
