Council adopts practice to reschedule canceled meetings that include time‑sensitive items

Councilor Tammy proposed that if a regularly scheduled meeting is canceled and it contains time‑sensitive agenda items, the council should reschedule the meeting at the soonest legally possible date. Council discussed the posting requirements for special meetings (three business days) and carved an exception so the policy would apply only to canceled meetings with time‑sensitive items.

The amended motion passed unanimously. Councilors asked staff to note posting constraints and to consider whether moving agenda items to the next available meeting might be an alternative when scheduling timelines make a special meeting impractical. Tammy introduced the motion saying, "I would like to make a motion that if one of our regular scheduled meetings is canceled, that we reschedule it at the soonest possible date."
