SLAC approves operating procedures and will recommend them to Lubbock ISD board

At its Nov. 18 meeting, the School Library Advisory Committee unanimously approved operating procedures that define membership, meeting rules and committee responsibilities and voted to recommend the procedures to the district board.
The School Library Advisory Committee (SLAC) unanimously approved a set of operating procedures at its Nov. 18, 2025 public meeting. The procedures define SLAC membership rules, required meetings, member responsibilities and how the committee will operate under state law. The motion to approve was made by Lindzi Timberlake and seconded by Jessica Caroom; the committee recorded the motion as unanimously adopted.
Committee chair Tilman J. Hurt opened the meeting and the committee agreed the approved procedures will be forwarded as a recommendation to the Lubbock ISD Board for final action. The procedures are intended to clarify roles and timelines for SLAC work and to align committee operations with applicable state requirements. The committee set a follow-up meeting in January (date TBA) for any procedural questions or updates.
Next steps: SLAC will transmit the approved operating procedures to the district board for consideration. No further procedural amendments were recorded at this meeting.
