Oak Forest updates residents on storm response; ComEd restores most customers

City Administrator Moses Amidei provided the council with an update on storm response and ongoing utility restorations. He thanked Public Works, Fire, Police, EMA personnel, City staff, and the community for response and cooperation. Amidei reported that ComEd had restored roughly 8,600 customers while about 4,000 remained without power; ComEd's system goal was to restore 80% of affected customers by the following day, with remaining restorations anticipated by Friday depending on damage extent.
With streets reopened, Amidei said the city's focus will shift to debris cleanup, including use of additional equipment to remove large trees and branches. He also said staff will issue a public reminder about regulations governing e‑bikes and similar motorized devices, noting certain motorized bikes and scooters without pedals remain prohibited on public property and that age and class requirements apply to permissible e‑bikes.
