The City Council approved a revised right-of-way patio and dumpster-enclosure lease for Clover's Bar & Grill (15548 S. Cicero Ave.) and authorized a Business Improvement Grant to support exterior upgrades including a new patio, sidewalk and protective bollards.
Economic and Community Development Director Paul Ruane said the amendment replaces a previously approved wood deck with a concrete patio because the concrete quote was less expensive. The Economic Advisory Council recommended approval and the applicant supplied two qualifying construction bids; the lowest qualified bid totaled $21,750 and the city's 50% matching grant covers $10,875. "It will be cut down and into the angled parking spots," Ruane said when describing how the patio will meet the sloped parking area.
Alderperson Emmett asked staff to confirm that bollards will meet current codes and be robust enough for heavy traffic on 156th Street near Beggars Pizza; Director Ruane said he would confirm with Building Department staff. The council approved the lease agreement and grant by roll call vote, 5–0 (two absent).
