MPISD outlines summer-school schedule and previews stateassessment shift to Student Success Tool

Curriculum and Instruction Director Mike Lide told the board the district's summer-school schedule will run May 26—28 and June 1—18 (Mondays—Thursdays). The emergent bilingual summer program will follow the same dates, require 120 hours of instruction and include an afternoon release time of 4 p.m. The board approved the required emergent bilingual summer program by unanimous vote.
Lide also told trustees that the STAAR assessment will conclude in 2026 and students will begin taking the Student Success Tool (SST) in 2027—28. The SST will be administered in three parts and will include a growth measure that captures student progress across the year. He noted the State Board of Education is conducting second-reading and final adoption of required K—12 literature lists in June, with formal adoption to follow in September.
