Mount Pleasant ISD board elects Dr. Kenny Thompson president; unanimous vote to reorganize officers

The Mount Pleasant Independent School District Board of Trustees reorganized its leadership at the May 18 regular meeting, voting 7-0 to name Dr. Kenny Thompson as board president, Luke Anderson as vice president and Juan Duenez as secretary.
Buddy Blue moved to designate the slate of officers and Sandy Bible seconded; the motion carried on a recorded roll-call vote with all seven trustees voting aye. At the moment of reorganization, Yvonne Hampton handed the gavel to Dr. Thompson, concluding her tenure presiding over the opening of the meeting.
Board members present at the meeting were Luke Anderson, Sandy Bible, Buddy Blue, Kim Crabb, Juan Duenez, Yvonne Hampton and Kenny Thompson. The reorganizational motion follows the statutory requirement that the board select officers at its first meeting after qualifying new trustees.
