Parents and Coaches Urge New Berlin School Board to Fix Facility-Reservation System

Tina Coe, the New Berlin West head varsity Poms coach and a district parent, said the program has a record of competitive success and that bookings paused earlier this year left the youth program unable to finalize its season. "In April, we submitted requests through Bound only to find out that they would still not be confirmed and there was no timeline for this confirmation," Coe said, describing families forced to decline athletes and the logistical burdens on parents and multi-sport athletes.
Nick Coe, speaking for families in the Youth Poms Program, said coaches had been trying to book since February and that the program's approved practice times run out in three weeks, creating uncertainty for athletes who also play other sports. Hannah Chin, the varsity Poms head coach, asked the board to improve district-wide responsiveness to coaches' emails and requests, saying prompt acknowledgement and follow-up model the behavior expected of students.
The chair acknowledged prior emails and said staff would follow up: "Mr. Garza has responded and Mr. Miller is gonna be working with you to, I think you said you're gonna be talking with them to try to, resolve whatever issues are going on," the chair said. Later in the agenda the board voted to add a community objective directing the board to "monitor and support the administration to improve satisfaction with the facility reservation process," signaling a formal follow-up step. The board did not set a specific schedule that night for resolving individual practice confirmations.
