During the public comment period, Heather Site addressed the board about staff retention and in‑service scheduling, saying many teachers had virtually no unencumbered time during pre‑school year staff days and that “unencumbered time on staff days is essential.” Board members acknowledged the concern and staff explained that in‑service schedules vary and that progress reports and counselor outreach form part of ongoing support.
Earlier in the meeting Superintendent Dr. Robertson presented a large slate of recognitions and administrative appointments — promotions and hires across elementary and secondary schools — and the board approved the personnel report by motion. Named appointees announced in the meeting included Pierre Deshane (assistant principal at Hermitage Elementary School), Barbara Griffin (assistant principal at CTEC Elementary/ Achievable Dream Academy), Dr. Ursula Hill (assistant principal at Luxford Elementary School), Caitlin Riley (principal at First Colonial High School), Dr. Lauren Cave (human resources specialist), and others. The clerk reported the personnel motion passed.
