Board conditions private classification of King Street on lease with Turtle Creek Township

The board considered a request to reclassify the southern portion of King Street within Union Village as a private roadway while keeping the northern portion public and to amend the cross section to add a landscape median.
Turtle Creek Township administrator Tammy Box told the board the township has not finalized a lease or easement agreement for the Cogan–King Street reconnection and raised concerns about who would maintain the roadway and whether geogrid surfacing would be an acceptable public standard. The applicant proposed an emergency access that would be gated, signed, and equipped with a Knox box and described the geogrid material for the access route.
Commissioners proposed moving the map modification forward but making it contingent on a GeoGrid agreement/lease between the developer and Turtle Creek Township to address emergency access, maintenance responsibilities, and any required easement. The board recorded that the condition will be added to the resolution and that the parties must finalize the lease/agreement as part of final approval.
