Magnolia ISD board adopts educator early-resignation incentive program

The Magnolia ISD Board of Trustees adopted a resolution on Feb. 10, 2025, to offer an Educator Early Resignation Incentive Program for eligible campus educators as a workforce planning tool. The program’s resolution states that eligible employees (campus educators employed under Probationary, Term or Non-Chapter 21 contracts as of Sept. 1, 2024) who sign the program agreement and submit a timely resignation may receive compensation as described in the attached Program Agreement. The superintendent or designee will provide Program Agreements on or before March 1, 2025, and participating educators must deliver a signed agreement and letter of resignation by March 28, 2025.
The resolution filed in the board packet frames the program as a recruitment and planning strategy: “obtaining such a forecast is in the best interest of the District and allows the District to further its educational mission by properly assessing its personnel needs for the 2025–2026 school year,” the resolution text states. The board adopted the program by recorded motion and directed the superintendent to implement program distribution and intake as specified. The resolution includes a formal certification and was signed by Board President Gary Blizzard and Secretary Sonja Ebel.
