Magnolia ISD board approves consent agenda and January financials

The Magnolia Independent School District Board of Trustees approved its consent agenda on Feb. 10, 2025, by a unanimous vote. The package (Items A–J) included approval of Jan. 13 and Jan. 31 minutes; the district’s monthly financials; out-of-district student transfers; an order calling the May 3, 2025 school board election for Positions 1, 2 and 3; joint election and election services agreements with Montgomery County; rescheduling the March meeting to March 17; an employee early resignation incentive program; safety audit findings; and RFP#100824 for instructional supplies.
Assistant Superintendent of Operations Erich Morris presented the January financial memorandum and recommended approval of payroll and operating expenditures. In the memorandum he wrote, “It is my recommendation that the January 2025 payroll earnings and operating expenses in the amount of $17,118,636 be approved.” The board adopted the consent agenda by Motion No. 6083 (mover: Trustee Sonja Ebel; second: Trustee Stacia Norris); the motion carried unanimously with six trustees present.
The board packet included a detailed check register totaling $6,095,949 and a budgetary monthly total of $17,118,636. The financial exhibits presented by the business office also summarized year-to-date revenue and expenditures across general, food-service and debt-service funds and noted projected year-end balances. The board did not request additional public comment during the audience participation portion, which had no signups.
The approved election order sets the date for the May 3, 2025 election for Positions 1 (Dacia Owens), 2 (Sonja Ebel) and 3 (Gary Blizzard). Agreements with Montgomery County will provide election services under the terms approved in the consent motion. The district’s certified financial materials will be retained in the business office as part of the official minutes.
