Zoning administrator reports steady permit revenue, on-track budget and staffing update

The Zoning Administrator presented a financial and permitting update, saying 2026 remains strong for land-use permits (building permits, land-use and sanitary permits are the top revenue sources) and that revenue stands around 64% month-to-date toward annual targets. The administrator said department efforts and scheduling typically concentrate permit issuance toward the end of the year and staff expect to meet budget projections. "When I look at the month to date, right now, we're at about 64%. So we are on track to meet budget," the Zoning Administrator said.
Staff also introduced Becky McBrier as a replacement staff member who will attend planning and zoning and board-of-adjustment meetings. The administrator summarized grant activity (Great Lakes and AMP grants) and conservation program targets, noting outreach and training items in the proposed budget and planned public-service announcements. Committee members asked clarifying questions about the budget projections and staff said they would present the full budget materials in a future meeting.
