Zoning administrator recommends two Wild Rose ranges remain closed until licensed designer signs off

The Zoning Administrator updated the committee on the Wild Rose Gun Club conditional use, reminding members that five conditions were set on May 5 and that the two southern ranges were ordered temporarily closed until the club presents plans from a licensed range designer and addresses safety work. Ruth felt it was adequate," the Zoning Administrator said, adding that a licensed designer is still required to evaluate backstops and layout.

On site visits and technical fixes, staff and attendees described visible hazards and mitigation options, including cleaning rock-lined floors, adding mulch or wood chips to reduce ricochets, and erecting fencing and signage to prevent public access. The administrator said, "It is a requirement of our code to keep people from wandering into the gun club," and recommended the two ranges remain closed "until such time that they get a designer." Committee members discussed practical steps—camera installation, vegetation buffers and baffle structures—and agreed staff should invite the club back for an update at a future public hearing if documentation is provided. No formal vote to change the existing conditional-use conditions was recorded in this segment; staff will report back when the club submits designer documentation or other evidence of compliance.
