County administration and finance staff reviewed key elements of the 2027 budget during the executive committee meeting, highlighting several department requests and assumptions that will be refined as revenue estimates arrive. Staff said district attorney and victim-witness budgets include salary and benefit increases tied to an upcoming paralegal retirement and that the county will update figures based on an additional state payment that slightly raises the victim-witness reimbursement percentage.
The committee also discussed library services: the five-year Winnet Fox contract includes a roughly $15,000 per-year addition to create a capital expense account for the network of libraries. On revenues, the treasurer reported a sales-tax settlement received on 07/31/2026 of $199,772.97 and year-to-date sales tax receipts of $1,114,021.47; staff said they will receive updated sales-tax projections in mid-September and are using conservative assumptions for now.
