Paxton council approves minutes, claims and treasurer's report; one abstention on EIEC claim

At the start of its Jan. 13 meeting, the Paxton City Council approved routine administrative items.
Alderman Wilson moved to approve the minutes from the Dec. 9, 2025 meeting; Alderman Evans seconded and the motion passed on a 7-0 voice vote. The council then approved the list of claims (with Alderman Larson moving and Alderman Pacey seconding). After a separate vote on EIEC claims, roll call recorded six ayes and one abstention by Alderman Wilson; the motion to approve EIEC claims carried.
Alderman Wilson also moved to approve the Treasurer's Report and Investment Registry; Alderman Geiken seconded and the item carried by a 7-0 voice vote. Comptroller/Treasurer Tammy Jensen said the city's audit is wrapping up and noted end-of-year items such as W-2s and 1099s.
These were procedural approvals and required no further action.
