Organizers seek permission and village support for Labor Day fireworks

Organizers of the village Labor Day picnic requested permission to stage fireworks at the end of the event and asked whether the village would contribute funding.
Tammy Hart said the group had secured a licensed, insured fireworks company and the picnic’s organizers also carry event insurance. Attorney Rabin advised that a special event permit and a liability policy are customary and recommended coordination with the fire department. “Normally it’s absolutely allowed… as long as they have the location and insurance,” Rabin said. Trustees expressed support and asked the organizers to provide paperwork and coordinate with the fire department; Hart said she would submit a donation sheet and the group would obtain any required permits.
The board indicated the village is supportive in principle but will require the standard permits and proof of insurance before the event proceeds.
