Maypearl ISD Hires Chief of Police, Director of Operations; Adopts HB3 Good Cause Resolution

Following executive sessions on Aug. 28, the Maypearl ISD Board of Trustees took a series of personnel and policy actions related to safety and operations.
After the first executive session (entered at 8:08 p.m. and reconvened at 8:30 p.m.), the board voted to hire Garland Wolf as Director of School Safety and Security/MISD Chief of Police (motion by Jarod Wright, seconded by Adam Smith). The board entered a second executive session at 8:33 p.m., reconvened at 10:33 p.m., and subsequently voted to hire Kirk Benton as Director of Operations/Transportation (motion by Steve Cooper, seconded by Jeremy Norman).
The board also adopted a resolution declaring a Good Cause Exception under House Bill 3 related to the armed security officer requirement (motion by Jeremy Norman, seconded by Jerry Ramirez). Finally, the trustees approved the district's Basic Operations Plan (motion by Chad Trinkle, seconded by Monte Dirickson). All recorded motions were approved unanimously.
