County secures $36,000 hazard‑mitigation grant; approves debris contractors

Courtney Taylor, Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security for Gordon County, told the committee, "We have a $36,000 grant to help write the plan." She said the Board of Commissioners signed on with consultant Jason Heard; the county’s in‑kind match for the consultant is $9,000 in salary‑time. Taylor scheduled a Hazard Mitigation Planning meeting for March 11 at 2 p.m.
Taylor also reported that the board approved DRC, SDR and Crowder Gulf as the county’s debris removal contractors. She described ongoing EMA training efforts including AEMT instruction for fire departments and First Aid/CPR and Stop the Bleed classes for county residents.
