Mesquite ISD board approves CMAR and three construction GMPs for elementary renovations

The Mesquite Independent School District board on Dec. 8 approved the selection of Buford Thompson Company as Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for Package 1 (Motley/Lawrence Replacement Elementary) and accepted three Guaranteed Maximum Prices for current elementary renovation work.
Trustees unanimously approved a GMP of $174,309 for Beasley Elementary switch gear; WRA and MISD Construction Services reported a total construction cost estimate at 77% plans of $2,488,740.16 for the Beasley renovation. The board also approved a $763,159 GMP for Gray Elementary chiller and switch gear and a $202,679 GMP for Moss Elementary switch gear. The Gray Elementary total cost estimate at 7% plans was listed as $6,662,828.32; the Moss Elementary estimate at 77% plans is $5,483,213.18.
The motions passed by recorded unanimous votes. Trustees cited construction planning and recommended vendor reviews by WRA Architects, Inc. and MISD Construction Services in supporting the motions. No details on project schedules or funding sources beyond the GMPs and cost estimates were provided at the meeting.
