Naples water staff report generator needs, say recent TCEQ tests were within limits

Water department staff told the Naples City Council on March 16 that the system needs at least one, and possibly two, three-phase portable generators to maintain Wells 5 and 6 during outages or maintenance. The equipment estimate given to the council ranged from $10,000 to $40,000.
The department also described a TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) inspection conducted after a complaint alleging excessive chlorine in the water. "The results came back that everything was within normal limits being at 2.2," the water department reported to the council. Council members pressed staff on vehicle maintenance and other operational details during the departmental report. A motion to approve the department reports was made by Council member Carrie Kirkland, seconded by Tim Thornburg and carried "all in favor."
