Midlothian ISD named National Showcase District; campuses and students honored

Midlothian ISD was recognized as a National Showcase District and 11 campuses were named Capturing Kids' Hearts® National Showcase Schools; the Board also recognized student Eagle Scout achievement and regional athletic accomplishments.
Midlothian ISD was named a National Showcase District and 11 district campuses were recognized as Capturing Kids' Hearts® National Showcase Schools during the June 16 Board meeting. The named campuses included Dolores W. McClatchey Elementary, J.A. Vitovsky Elementary, J.R. Irvin Elementary, Jean Coleman Elementary, Larue Miller Elementary, Longbranch Elementary, Mt. Peak Elementary, T.E. Baxter Elementary, Midlothian High School, Dieterich Middle School, and Walnut Grove Middle School.
Board members also recognized individual student and team achievements: Heritage High School graduate Rowan Jones earned Eagle Scout distinction; the Midlothian High School Panther baseball team finished the season as Regional Semi-Final Champions; and the MHS girls doubles tennis team of Hannah Hobbs and Gwen Robinson became the first MISD tennis individual or team to win a match at the UIL State tournament. Trustees praised staff and student effort during the recognitions portion of the meeting.
