During a special meeting at the district administration building on Jan. 11, 2025, President Marcos J. Garcia called the session to order at 9:00 a.m. The board moved into an executive session at 9:02 a.m.; it reconvened in open session at 3:10 p.m. After the closed session, Board Member Nancy Vallejo moved “to name Dr. Benjamin Clinton as the sole finalist and authorize the Board President, Board Vice President, and Board Member Rachel Trevino to negotiate a contract and make a recommendation to the Board,” and Oscar Hernandez seconded the motion.
A roll-call vote followed. Eddie Howell Jr., Nancy Vallejo, Oscar Hernandez, Orlando Rodriguez, Ricardo Hinojosa, Rachel Trevino and Marcos J. Garcia IV each voted yes; the motion passed unanimously. The board then approved a motion to adjourn and ended the meeting at 3:11 p.m.
No members of the public signed up to speak during the open forum portion of the special meeting. The motion authorizes President Marcos J. Garcia IV, Vice President Orlando Rodriguez and Board Member Rachel Trevino to negotiate contract terms with Dr. Clinton and bring a recommendation back to the board for final action.
