Commission approves Big Island Water Works intake inspection and masonry repairs

The Commission approved two items related to Big Island Water Works on Aug. 10. A resolution repealed a prior action and declared the necessity to proceed with primary intake cleaning and inspection, approved revised specifications and an engineer's estimate, and directed the city manager to advertise for and receive bids.
Separately, the Commission approved an ordinance authorizing the city manager to expend funds to Garland DBS Inc. of Cleveland for masonry façade restoration and repairs to the main headhouse at the Big Island Water Works plant, using the US Communities government purchasing alliance.
Both items were moved, seconded and approved on roll call. Staff indicated the projects will move forward under the procurement process, with bidding and contract administration handled by the appropriate departments.
