Commission hears request to make county victim advocate full time amid other reclassification proposals

Staff presented the reclassification as part of the midyear packet: the part‑time role was approved earlier in the year and the midyear request to make it full time would cost approximately $19,847 through 2026 and a larger amount on a full‑year basis. Commissioners discussed whether costs would be split among departments that use the service (county attorney, sheriff’s office, Children’s Justice Center) and whether grant funding could offset the county share.
Other personnel items presented included converting two part‑time jail nurses to a single full‑time nurse (to reduce liability and improve coverage), promoting a GIS specialist to administrator (small cost), reclassifying an economic development coordinator to a director (exempt status), and returning a lead recreation‑tech position at Sand Flats with a seasonal cost impact. Staff said some positions are funded outside the general fund (enterprise or mitigation funds) and that the clerk’s office will provide line‑by‑line cost totals for commissioners to review before final action.
