The Mount Vernon ISD Board of Trustees met in regular session Aug. 12, 2024, in the district auditorium and approved a slate of policies, insurance purchases and service contracts for the 2025–26 school year by unanimous votes.
Board President Leigh Anne Ramsay and trustees recorded a series of motions that passed 6–0, including approval of a proposed tax rate and the scheduling of a public hearing for the proposed 2025–26 budget. The board also approved student insurance coverage, property and casualty insurance, a fuel-supply contract with Jackson Oil Company, and a $72,000 lawn-care contract covering three mowings per year with Daryl Boyd Lawn Service of Mt. The board delegated to the superintendent the contractual authority to obligate the district for Chapter 48 attendance-credit purchases and under related Texas Education Code provisions for 2025–26. The meeting included a construction update presented on behalf of Hellas and Jackson Construction and an informational budget overview by Craig Craver, the district's director of finance.
The board convened a closed session on personnel and legal matters and later reconvened to acknowledge professional contracts and resignations before adjourning at 8:21 p.m.
