Council conditionally approves Steamboat Lily's liquor license, requires background check

The Hilliard Town Council voted to approve a liquor license application from Rice Properties LLC, doing business as Steamboat Lily's, on the condition that the background check and application materials required by town code section 6-2-4(a) are attached to the file.
Council member Walts moved for conditional approval and said the town code requires a background check; another council member seconded the motion and the council approved it by voice vote. Council members noted the state may also require background checks and discussed whether to later amend the town code to avoid overlapping requirements.
Applicant Ian Farhad identified himself at the hearing but said he had no comment during the public hearing. The council did not identify any outstanding permitting issues beyond the required application materials and the background check.
